Stellar Blade’s influence is strong, with the entire game being an overt homage to 2017’s highly philosophical Android epic NieR: Automata, which tackles many of the same themes, from a war-torn Earth to what it means to be human.
Stellar Blade’s story also features multiple endings, but fortunately they’re not too hidden, so multiple playthroughs aren’t necessary to get the best one possible. These revolve around the final decisions you can make in the game and how much you’ve developed your relationships with your companions, especially Lily, the engineer of the group.
The Story Of Stellar Blade
Stella Blade’s story depicts the adventures of EVE, a member of the 7th Airborne Forces sent to Earth to free it from the Nytiva infestation. But the game’s real story goes back many years, when humanity was thriving as a technologically advanced civilization.
The Birth Of Mother Sphere
The humanity depicted in Stella Blade had reached a self-consciously utopian technological level, with almost limitless energy thanks to hypercells and artificial intelligence. The most advanced of these artificial intelligences was the Mother Sphere, a supercomputer created by Raphael Marks.
Based on the Mother Sphere’s blueprints, Raphael created a new strain of androids called Andro-Eidos, which at first glance are indistinguishable from other humans. However, they were stronger and much more resilient, and could survive even in the vacuum of space.
The Andro Eidos Uprising
For many years, the Mother Sphere saw the Andro Eidos as an improved version of humanity, and decided that the Andro Eidos should inherit the Earth. Because of this vision, she launched a war against humanity, with the goal of eradicating humanity, leaving the Andro Eidos as the only sentient beings.
Since the Andro Eidos were superior to humans in almost every way, the Mother Sphere’s victory seemed inevitable. The surviving humans rallied around Raphael Marks, who came up with a way to defeat their robotic enemies: forced evolution.
Creation Of The Naytiba
Raphael became the first Nytiva, an evolved form of human with greater physical strength and special abilities such as telekinesis and body transformation. However, this transformation came at a high price, and only Raphael managed to retain his sanity. All the others became wild Nytiva with grotesque features and immense murderous intent.
Nevertheless, these monsters had undeniable results, as they were able to turn the tide of the war and fight the androids. This forced the Mother Sphere to retreat to its colony, a space station in orbit around Earth, and bombard the planet to reduce the number of Nytiva.
The Lie Of Mother Sphere
Over the decades, the Mother Sphere has changed the depiction of events on Earth. She told her android civilization that they were, in fact, the last surviving human race, and that the monsters plaguing Earth were responsible for their destruction.
This naturally led the Andro-Eidos to believe that they were the original humans, and that the Nytivas were mindless monsters that needed to be destroyed. Most of the Nytivas could not speak, so there was no one left to tell anyone the truth about the war.
Making New Memories Ending
To see this ending, you must ensure that Lily’s progress bar is at 100% and access Eidos 9 before completing the Orbit Elevator section. Afterwards, all you have to do is accept Adam’s offer, and Lily manages to escape from her exosuit during the battle with Providence.
After defeating Providence, EVE will still be confronted by the Mother Sphere, as in the previous ending, but this time Lily is alive and well. Lily retreats to Sion, while EVE stays behind and fights the waves of Andro-Eidos sent to destroy her.
After this battle, a new scene plays in which Lily brings the last Hypercell to Sion, giving the city the energy it needs to awaken all its citizens from cryogenic slumber. We then see Sion, full of life force, with EVE hovering above her as her protector.
Adam’s Plan For Saving Humanity
This ending allows Zion to become the birth place of a new human race, where humans and androids can live in peace. Now that EVE has the power of the Elders, there may even be a way to restore the sanity of the barbarian Nytiva. However, the Mother Sphere remains a threat and seems to be reserved for a future new game. This fact indicates that the ending of Making New Memories is probably the most canonical one, providing a better basis for a sequel. Adam’s Plan to Save Humanity Even after seeing all the endings of the game, you may still be confused as to what Adam’s plan was, since his actions seem to contradict each other. After all, he helps EVE hunt down the Naytibas throughout the game and is also their supreme leader.
In reality, Adam is the creator of the Naytibas, but not its leader. His plan consisted of two parts: on the one hand, it was to create a perfect connection between the Naytibas (the old people) and the Andro-Eidos (the new people), and on the other, to build a city as a safe haven for this new humanity.
Building Xion
Adam built Zion as a safe haven for humanity, whatever form it may take. It is inhabited by a large number of androids who have no connection to the Mother Sphere, but the majority of humanity is in cryosleep, waiting for the power source to awaken.
To optimally supply Xion with energy, it needs multiple hypercells. That’s why Adam is looking for them when he meets Adam at the beginning of the game. Adam entrusts Orcal with the responsibility of Xion to serve as the spiritual leader of the city and to learn Adam’s true identity.
Uniting Naytiba And Andro Eidos
One of Adam’s first attempts to combine Naitiva and Andro Eidos was Orcal, who began life as Naitiva and later fused with an android. This fusion was not perfect. That may be why Orcal is the only character with signs of aging.
What Adam needed was a perfect specimen from both sides. And luckily, he already had a perfect Naitiva. To find the perfect Andro Eidos, he decided to look for him among the forces of the Mother Sphere. The most advanced android in existence.
Raven And The Attack On Xion
Raven was part of the 2nd Airborne Squad, sent to Earth with the same mission as EVE: to kill the Elders and wipe out the Naitibus. Eventually she learns the truth about the last war and meets Adam, which changes her worldview.
Adam tried to use Raven to unite the Naitibus and the androids, but her desire for revenge left her incomplete. Thanks to one of her cores, she eventually gained the powers of Alpha Naitibus and used these powers to kill the Mother Sphere’s army.
When she finds out that Adam plans to merge with EVE, she becomes enraged, probably out of jealousy, and leads an attack on Sion. This means that Adam has nothing to do with the attack on the city, as he was already planning to peacefully merge with EVE at that point.
The reason Adam chooses Eve over Raven is because EVE has shown compassion and a willingness to listen at every turn, both in the main storyline and in the many side quests you can take on. Raven only wants to destroy the Mother Sphere and never once tried to help Adam get the Hypercell back for Sion.
