It’s been a long wait, but the sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest is finally coming in a few days. The new game, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, will be released on March 11 for Xbox One and PC, and will take players back to the enchanting and heartbreaking world of Ori and the Nibel Forest… but this time the journey will go further beyond Nibel’s borders. Before diving into Will of the Wisps, players should take a few minutes to remember what happened in the first game. The sequel begins shortly after those events.

Players only need to read through the prologue of Ori and the Blind Forest to understand that the game will contain heartbreaking emotions. In true Disney and Pixar fashion, Ori and the Blind Forest begins with a creepy scene that quickly changes from enchanting to heartbreaking. This narrative trick may seem a bit cheesy, but it will definitely make players emotionally invested in Ori’s happiness. Within 20 minutes of the game, many players will be in tears and ready to go to battle to protect their sweet Ori.

Before we go into detail about what happens in Ori and the Blind Forest, let’s consider this our final spoiler warning. The rest of this article will reveal in detail everything that happens at the end of Ori and the Blind Forest. Players who want to play this game for the first time before starting the sequel should stop here.

The Prologue

The Blind Forest begins with Ori being orphaned not once but twice, all before the prologue is even completed. At the start of the game, Ori falls from the spirit tree during a storm. The adorable white guardian spirit is soon captured by a large, Gribi-like creature named Naru. Ori and Naru form a special bond and continue to live together in peace until a massive, catastrophic event strikes the forest, destroying their food resources. As a result, Naru gives Ori the rest of his food, causing him to starve to death. Left alone, Ori journeys deeper into the forest to survive…

Eventually, the young guardian spirit loses his powers and collapses near the Sacred Tree, only to be revived by a small blue sphere called Sein. Here the prologue ends and the game begins in earnest. From here, Ori and Sein set out to bring balance to the forest by restoring the three main elements: water, wind and heat.

The Main Story

The next adventure from the developer of Ori and the Blind Forest is a gripping soulslike action-RPG with a survival game twist | PC Gamer

This is where the game’s other two main characters, Gumo and Kuru, come into the picture right away. Gumo, a spider-like creature, seems like a bad guy at first, but quickly becomes an ally when cute little Ori comes to his aid. Kuru, a creepy big owl, on the other hand, stays in antagonist territory for much longer. Kuru’s aggression towards Ori is slowly explained over time, and the player eventually learns that when the Spirit Tree sent a giant light into the forest looking for Ori, it unintentionally killed all of Kuru’s hatchlings. This sets Kuru on a journey of revenge to protect his last unhatched child, which lasts until almost the end of the game.

In a less heartbreaking twist, Gumo is able to revive Naru using the light stored from the Sacred Tree, and they are able to team up to protect Ori and Sein. The two adventurers try to bring back warmth to the forest, but Gumo senses the danger that is coming. In the game’s final act, Kuru captures Ori and Sein, but Naru arrives to protect them. Seeing Naru’s parental love for Ori, Kuru is forced to think of his own child and changes course. To stop the forest from burning, Kuru takes Sein back to the top of the Sacred Tree, where a huge light emanates again and the fire is extinguished. Unfortunately, Kull is also destroyed in the event.

The game ends with the forest coming back to life and Ori, Gumo and Naru living happily ever after, taking care of the last remaining Kuru egg. Just before the credits roll, the egg hatches, revealing a new character who will probably play a key role in the sequel…

The trailer for Ori and the Will of the Wisps suggests that the sequel will follow the same protagonist, Ori; however, sometimes he explores areas far beyond the boundaries of his native forest. It will be very exciting to see how the rest of the surviving cast will be involved, and what role Kuru’s surviving owlchild will play. Check back soon for more news, updates, and strategy guides on
