When I cook, I always end up Gordan Ramsay whenever someone comes into my kitchen because their mere presence disrupts the delicate environment I have so carefully arranged for myself. So I saw an opportunity to do PlateUp! I accept that it was a poor decision to play, especially considering the obvious time constraints that such a game places on an aspiring chef. And yet here I am, battered but very happy with what I have accomplished.
If anyone out there believes they can handle the stress of the kitchen on their own, let me tell you it’s PlateUp! along with the burden it places on you. Customers will quickly become angry if you don’t serve them on time, not to mention the anger if you fail to serve the whole table at once.
Can you handle the heat inĀ PlateUp!
However, diving into the world of perfect cooking with your partner is not so easy, especially if you are not used to such a fast and tricky game. Don’t go into this tour expecting a cozy experience that will make you want to lock yourself in your kitchen with fresh cooking ideas in mind. You will be totally disappointed. But there is a strange catharsis in it. Maybe I’m a masochist at heart…? Maybe that’s a question you don’t want to answer.
Anyone who has played other management/cooking simulations knows that it’s all about the speed of the action as well as patience. Unfortunately, I haven’t played a game like this for years. h. I was a bit rusty when I started. To be honest, it wasn’t a good start.
Plate Up!The simple controls and graphics make it easy for anyone to start playing. But it’s also easy to think that you’re ready to use the kitchen. But I want to emphasize how reckless this idea is. You will be challenged and then you will “lose”. But losses are part of the process of gaining a deeper understanding of the business you naively started and setting yourself up for success in the near future.
You start with the tutorial. Great! Not right. It doesn’t matter if you play this tutorial or not, but I highly recommend you do. Once you understand (roughly) how the game works, you’ll begin your journey to becoming a Michelin expert (not a tire, pagans). The process starts with decisions that will affect how desperate you’ll feel when your restaurant opens. Choose from two floor plans and complete your vision board by choosing the only dish available at the beginning: steak. More dishes will be unlocked over time, but they are easy. You have to start at the bottom and work your way up. A true rags to riches story through the ages.
Steak is a simple dish that you just place on the hot plate, according to the customer’s order, and wait until it is cooked to your liking. It seems like you can do it with your eyes closed, but don’t be lulled into a false sense of security. Grease and oil will splatter on the ground, eventually slowing you down significantly and making you do some weird Scooby-Doo-esque running moves as you try to get away from the spot. You will also have to wash dirty dishes and frequently have to clean up the messes made by your customers.
At first it is a simple steak dish, but it becomes more interesting with the addition of red wine sauce, chopped onions and stock. By the time these many elements were in place, my restaurant had already closed down after another failed attempt to stay in business.
As you gain more and more fame in the form of more stars and the number of consecutive days gradually increases, you will be able to start a proper renovation of your establishment. Wallpaper, new flooring, atmospheric lighting and other aesthetic decorations have the benefit of reducing the impatience of waiting customers when the serving of food is delayed.
Such a feature would be appreciated, because when the kitchen is full, it becomes natural to accidentally select the wrong appliance. It was really frustrating when I put the cheese on my pizza in the wrong place and had to throw it all away. Still, making pizza proves to be the most convenient meal, as you can feed four people at the same time, even accounting for extra toppings, and you can complete multiple orders at once.
Plate Up! is best experienced as a group activity, but who you embark on this adventure with will determine whether or not intact friendships are ultimately forged. Of course, playing with family can make family gatherings awkward.
This unpretentious game is good to play with others, but it’s also funny, infuriating, fulfilling, and has all the adjectives you could want. This is a game you can come back to after months away, defeated and unsure if you can muster the courage to face the hungry hordes again. This experience will demand a lot from you. But above all else, it’s about having fun. A tangible fun that’s hard to resist, even if all your instincts tell you to give up and live in the wilderness.
Lest hunger ever eat away at your tummy, have a plate of PlateUp! to remind you that you’ve missed a meal so delicious it’s hard to swallow. So, plate up, enjoy your meal, dear chefs.
Pros: Incredibly accessible, simple controls, high replay value, and an undeniably warm atmosphere that makes you feel welcome
Cons: Simple-looking graphics, not as polished as other cooking sims, surprisingly difficult to play alone
