As mentioned above, Kirby and the Forgotten Land begins with the titular pink hero and his friends being pulled into a mysterious dimensional rift from Dreamland. Kirby wakes up on a beach and begins to explore his surroundings. The island he lands on is called “Forgotten Land” and appears to be uninhabited.

Kirby soon learns that the island is inhabited by a group of animals called the Beast Pack, who have begun kidnapping Waddle Dees. With the help of a little blue creature named Elfirin, Kirby rescues Waddle Dees and begins to defeat the Beast Pack.

Kirby finally comes face to face with his possessed nemesis, King Dedede. King Dedede flees the arena with Elfiline, and Kirby gives chase. Kirby finds King Dedede at the base of the Redgar Volcano, but he seems even more unpredictable now that he’s wearing a mask.

Kirby shatters the mask, and King Dedede reverts to his normal form once again. He holds off the Beast Pack while Kirby and Elfiline escape in the volcano’s elevator. At the top, Kirby discovers a secret laboratory where Leongar, king of the beast pack, awaits. Leongar also seems possessed, his purple eyes glowing.

After defeating Leongar, the glass case behind the boss shatters, revealing a blue spore-like creature. Named Fecto Folgo, this creature was an alien that attempted to conquer the Forgotten Lands centuries ago, when the Forgotten Lands were still a bustling society. The alien was captured and its dimensional rift abilities were studied. The inhabitants of the Forgotten Lands then used this ability to leave this world, presumably heading towards the Dream World. In the process, the alien split into two parts: Elfirin and Fecto Folgo.

Fecto Folgo used Waddle Dee’s athletic ability to escape and consumed Leongar to become stronger. After a short chase, the alien consumes Elfirin and becomes his true form, Fecto Elfiris.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s Multiple Endings Explained

Review: 'Kirby and the Forgotten Land' is a mouthful of fun

After a tense battle in which Fecto Elfiris fires meteorites and powerful beams at the player, Kirby manages to pull Elfirin away from the creature. In a final attempt to defeat Kirby, the weakened alien opens a rift in space and begins to collapse the entirety of Planet Popstar.

Kirby transforms into a truck with his copy ability and charges towards the boss. With Elfirin’s help, Kirby pushes the meteorite back towards the boss, seemingly defeating the boss. In the game’s final moments, Elfirin closes the rift and the credits roll, showing the normal ending of the game.

In the post-credits scene, Leongar is possessed by the soul of Fect Forgo once again. To reach the true ending, the player must find Leongar’s lost soul scattered throughout the Forgotten Lands. Once the player has collected 250 of the 300 souls, they will gain access to the land of Forgo, where they will defeat Leongar once and for all.

Then, Forgo’s soul emerges from Leongar, and a bright orange butterfly lands on the alien. Folgo swallows the butterfly and transforms into Morphonite. Defeating Morphonite will once again destroy Folgo’s soul. The game then ends again, this time with the Beast Pack resurrecting the King.

Kirby and the Forgotten Lands also has a secret ending that can be unlocked by defeating Morphonite and winning the Ultimate Cup Z. Once this is completed, one final boss fight will be unlocked, this time a harder Chaos version of Fecto Elfilis. Defeating this boss will result in another game over, and white particles will rain down on Kirby and Elfirin.
